Managing and Working with Volunteers – Candidate Training
This presentation was used at a Candidate Training for women of color by women of color, organized by the National Women’s Political Caucus . As a volunteer, I put together this presentation to share with candidates the basic tips and guidelines for how to effectively use volunteers in their campaign.

Working with City Council to Initiate Change
This handout was produced for a workshop with Allyship . This workshop session was dedicated to understanding how legislation and policy decisions move through the City of Seattle’s City Council process.
This is a high level document that targets those with minimal knowledge of City governance and processes. It is best used when you bring a specific policy change in mind to use as an example.
Some information is dated and will not be the same after 2018 due to potential changes in committee structure. That portion of the document should be checked before use.
Advocacy and Civic Engagement Targeting Local Government
This presentation was used at Housing Development Consortium training for their member organizations. I was asked to come and present because of my previous experience as a non-profit professional advocating to local governments and because of my new experience as a legislative aide.
This presentation asks the attendees to identify their general strengths and then provides examples of different strategies they could employ to amplify their advocacy within their current capacity or by leveraging their current strategies for general communication and engagement.

This presentation was used at Outside In’s board meeting. I was asked to present on the development of policy and advocacy work for direct service 501c3 organizations. Considering both the regulatory limitations as well as the benefits of an intentionally focused approach to policy engagement.
